Azzurro coffee is a creation of the Formisano Family and was founded in Turin by Sandro and his father and they have been supplying coffee to the UK for over 25 years. The company is now run by Mario Formisano and he flits between Glasgow and Italy paying attention to detail and making sure everything runs smoothly. They took nine months to blend two ‘expertly balanced blends’ and I’m about to try them for the first time!

I look forward to a coffee the way others delight in the pop of a cork, don’t get me wrong my cork has been popped many a time but I find the buzz I get from coffee far out-ways the hangover I get from evil spirits. It increases everything about me. My libido cranks up, not that it’s got anywhere to go at the moment, so I run that off and live in romances of the past.

My affair with coffee started in a café beside queen street station after a teacher telling me I would never get anywhere if I didn’t drink coffee. I think he was right because nowadays it gets me out of bed and running around the park toots sweet!

My connection with Azzurro is a very dear friend Mario whom I’ve known for 21 years and it’s been amazing to see him become the Sales Director and Business partner in this forward thinking company. He is passionate, funny and takes with him 27 years of experience gained in the hospitality industry. Together with Sandro, who is also the UK ambassador for La San Marco who produce coffee machines they are a force to be reckoned with in an extremely competitive coffee market!

I do believe there is a space and place for everyone and we can all have our favourites but every now and then we need a change and I’m up new thrills right now; something with a bit of a kick. Dark, strong, robust with a persuasive body and delicious aroma!

If that sounds like anyone you know then give him my number!

I’m in the market to try something new!

  1. GG, this sounds delicious. I had difficulties getting out and about, even before COVID 19, so I’ve always had difficulty getting my chosen coffee. I have to drink a “reduced acid” coffee, and that gets even harder to find. When I could no longer get my brand, I came across one I loved from a large chain store in the USA (365 Smooth Operator, Low Acid). Amazingly it was less than half the price of the Lucy Jo brand I also liked. Another surprise was the cheaper one was easier on my tummy. Then, in typical COVID-shortage fashion, the 365 also disappeared. But here’s to trying new things. Toasting you with my morning coffee. Hugs!

      1. Yes. I’m in the desert southwest. Marvelous climate for someone who needs to see the sunshine. 🙂 Although Scotland has always fascinated me. My father’s family came from there in the late 1690s. I imagine they were probably rebelling against something and got kicked out, but who knows.
