What do you expect from your Bridesmaids and Groomsmen?
What are their roles and responsibilities?
Who does what and when?
The role of a Bridesmaids or groomsmen are usually filled by your closest family and friends and aside from the symbolism of having them by your side when you exchange vows, they will also be the ones who will step up and support you if it all becomes a bit overwhelming.
Many of the bridesmaids and groomsmen who are chosen will be more than happy to lend a hand, especially at the planning stages and it can be fun. What you need to avoid though is asking too much of them. As much as they love you and will support you in all the excitement of planning, they have their own lives.
I is always good to have a chat before deciding and choosing by having the conversation about what may need to be done in each of the supporting roles before letting them accept as it’s not a given.
I myself was once asked by a friend to be a Matron of honour but had two children and a full time job. She was quite offended when I replied I would have to think about it before accepting.
The trick is to lay it out and let people know your expectations and if you have a tight group of friends they will share the tasks and do everything they can to make your day magical.
See you the next time!
