So you want to become a Civil Celebrant!
Where do you start?
The Beginning!
Having sat through many a dull, funeral dirge it got me thinking about my own immortality and the one sure thing in my life…
I will die!
Imaging my funeral and the faces of people I love – and hate – sitting there, distraught, or pretending they’re going to miss me. Some, who are only there for the ‘purvey’ and the gossip!
One of my brother’s favourite things is a ‘dig dinner’, as he calls it. Steak pie or the buffet – these are the things he talks about and remembers after the ‘event.
When we reminisce about ‘the dead’ it’s usually the funeral we remember. We’ve even been known to comment on ‘what a great day it was’. Greeting friends and family from afar with a cheery,
“Great to see you, you look fabulous!”.
Followed by a swift,
“Pity about the circumstances though?”
I want my ‘dig’ – after the burial or ‘barbecue’ – post cremation to be a fun and an honest celebration of my life.
This thought began my journey into Humorous Celebrations!
