Doppio Malto

All anyone wants is a Happy Ending!

The motto for this joint is ‘un posto felice’ but we’ll be the judges of that!

Let’s see if it fulfils my expectation!

I was never a beer drinker but am excited to try out this new Bar/Restaurant who’s speciality is Italian Beer. My pal, The Mary, has ha her fair share but now keels over after two Tennant’s. I realise my intention always outweighed my capacity. I’m a pure, lightweight who thought she was in the heavy weight division

Doppio Malto have breweries in Milan and Sardegna and they promise ‘hearty dishes’ to compliment ‘la birra’. I’m sure we’ll not be disappointed with their version of ‘pub’ food and I’m already salivating at the description of the burgers,

The food

Beef hamburger with Fior di Maso goat soft-ripened Robiola cheese, Piacenza bacon La Rocca, chopped red Tropea onion in sweet and sour sauce, salad and mayonnaise

Caprino e cipolla

That’s sure to hit my ‘Happy Spot’ and I can already sense the oily dribble of the mayonnaise dripping down my blouse. Not trying to be sexy by the way – I’m a gobbler and very messy eater!

Doppio Malto produce around 15 varieties of beer with various, seasonal options. They could serve these all year round in Scotland as we can have 4 seasons in one day. I’d like to convince The Mary to indulge in a bevvy but don’t fancy carting her back to the car and listening to her rippin’ me apart. There’s an ongoing theme about my lust-life and romantic dilemmas. Most of which I invent to wind her up because it’s more interesting than my non-existent romantic status which is, to be honest…

Purely Self-fulfilling!

The Beers

La Brass

A bit like my recent liaison!

When you think you have reached the bottom
of the barrel, this beer will surprise you.
Give it a try halfway through a marathon of any kind.

La Bitter

Maybe I should try something new!

Refreshing and persuasive

When the mad rush is over, sit down, play a bit of
Springsteen. Two’s company and who says three’s a crowd?!
When you taste, you will see it is bitter to the very end.

Me…I say three is definitely a crowd and there is no way I’d stoop to a threesome situation! At the mere suggestion of it I would be bitter and that would be the end… And not a Happy one!

Our experience was Fantastico!

As soon as I looked at the menu one of my favourite dishes hit me in the taste buds so I ordered the Orecchiette cime di rapa e salsiccia Apulian which is made with whole-grain flour, prepared with turnip greens, Italian sausage sauce, (I love a bit of Italian Sausage) Bella Lodi Raspadura cheese flakes and basil leaves. It was sublime and I salivated all the way home.

The Mary choose Orecchiette ai due pomodori – done with rustic tomatoes sauce, PGI Pachino tomatoes, Bella Lodi Raspadura cheese flakes, basil leaves and EVO oil which she assured me, going by the sex noise she was making whilst eating, was delicious!

We also had the Pizza Mediterranea which was described as Pizza with Trapani salt flakes and rosemary but, to us, it was basically the best ‘Focaccia’ we have had in a while!

So, all in all, Doppio Malto lives up to it’s promise and was a very happy place. Guiseppe was charming and efficient and our servers Ciara and Amy were delightful. No doubt I’ll visit again soon because I need to try that burger and at the end of the day all everyone truly wants is to be in ‘Un Posto Felice’ and have…
