Should funerals be fun?
A funeral is about the wishes and beliefs of you and your loved one.
Whatever that may be!
I’ve been to so many funerals where they absolutely so not reflect the true personality of the deceased. I sit there frustrated, knowing they would be birling in their, speedily chosen wooden cask. Seething at the dross being spewed about them by someone they never met!
Personally, I imagine my friends being together, telling stories, laughing, looking at photos and having a good time. In fact, I’d quite like to be there and I’ve even thought about having my own wake so I can enjoy it with them. There could then be a simple passing on when I do eventually Pop my stilettos!
If you requested me to arrange your funeral then it will, of course, be what you wish and should always be led by you including any instructions passed on by your loved one. If you’ve ever arranged a funeral you will know how challenging it is and it’s hard to know where to start but, don’t be railroaded into a false sense of urgency then later regret this very important day.
A Humorous ceremony is always a possibility and I’m hoping it will be my speciality. On a day when you’ve lost someone very important to you, your wishes should be honoured. Humanist funerals are completely non-religious and to me seem almost sacrosanct in their non-religiousness.
My, Humourist, Service will be uplifting and if you want to sing a hymn, recite a passage from the Koran while doing a highland Gig…
Then that’s what will happen.
Your Ceremony,
Your Choice!
