vaccine,

Vaccine?

I’ll take a little jab over lockdown any day!

I can’t actually wait to get a vaccine if it means freedom to travel and a chance to visit friends and family.

I’m weary and the restrictions have dulled my sparkle to a peep and I’m ready to do almost anything to get moving!

The problem may be for many is if Boris Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccination card may ‘pave the way’ for a national ‘travel’ ID may come into place?

Will this create a multi-tier system and a two- tier Britain whereby some people have the freedom to move around without impunity while others stay at home without immunity? Human rights groups are fearing people without the card could be blocked from using essential, public services such as housing and public transport. This would result in the most marginalised groups being almost ostracised.

Gray Collier who is Liberty’s advocacy’s director has stated,

“We should all be able to live our lives free from unnecessary interference – but immunity cards risk creating a two-tier system in which some of us have access to freedoms and support while others are shut out.

‘Suggestions people must carry cards on them raise questions about whether we could be asked to use them to prove immunity. Beyond that it’s unclear what they’re for.

‘Once cards like these have been created it would be easy for their use to be extended so they can be used like an immunity passport. This could result in people who don’t have a card potentially being blocked from essential public services, work or housing – with the most marginalised among us hardest hit.”

The question then is…

Will you take the vaccine…

Or not?
